Yup. I've found my first must-read of 2017.
This book is so riveting that when I finished it this morning I immediately bought to audio book.
That, dear Mareathoner, is a fabulous testament to how much I got out of this book.
Lilly Singh is a Canadian YouTuber with more than 11 million subscribers and more than 1.8 billion views. Her main channel, iiSuperwomanii, is mainly comedic sketches and she also has a vlog channel where she posts daily videos. Her vlog channel is the content that I mainly watch and it's been fun to follow along on her epic journey.
Lilly's written this book, How to be a Bawse: A Guide to Conquering Life, as a collection of lessons she's learned. It's broken down into 50 very easy-to-read chapters with relatable advice and strategies to overcoming your biggest obstacles. I respect how attainable she makes success and how much she encourages hard work. Singh says she's not here to give the reader a get rich quick scheme but instead explain the tools for creating a life of greatness.
She's so wise for her young age. While I don't agree entirely with every piece of advice, she's got a fabulous delivery and definitely made me think differently on many topics.
Singh is very open about how she hit rock bottom and dealt with incredible depression before her rise to the top.
This book is a great read, no matter your age. If you are looking for some real-talk advice, pick up this gem.
